[Review] Era of Samurai: Code of Love; Soji Okita - Season 1 Main Story
Soji reminds me of Leon in Star-Crossed Myth, haha.
Saw people writing that the artist that worked with SCM is the same as this game.
I especially loved one CG. Okita's eyes looked so gentle even though he was seen as a merciless killer by the MC. Like he wanted the MC to see him for him. ಡ_ಡ
When playing his route, I felt fear - he was pretty scary in the beginning chapters. LOL.
As you read more, you realize there's more to Okita. The path that he walks, his past on what made him who he is today, and his different sides. And yupp, his route made me laugh too, haha.
So this route has like, everything?? Humour, fear, love and sadness (kind of bittersweet).
He was so sweet when he is in love. My heart melted in the love end.(*´▽`*)
That said, can I say the MC of this game is awesome again?? What she did was so awesome at the end. Hijikata was being thoughtful/sweet in his cool-way at one part. And all the other samurai were being nice to her?? By giving her food and stuff. Lol.
All in all, I enjoyed his route way more than I thought I would.
Seriously looking forward to the other routes of this game. ٩(●ᴗ●)۶

[Review] Era of Samurai: Code of Love; Toshizo Hijikata - Season 1 Main Story
The fighting scenes seem more realistic, with sprites zooming in and out.
Even the option screen was pretty.
Initially, Hijikata's sprite reminds me of Huedhaut. But after playing the game, it didn't cross my mind again. Their characters were too different.
In the hierarchy, Hijikata is second-in-command, so he gets understandably pissed when the MC chose him, and he had to
Hijikata is a strict man, who likes to show his hard front in front of others.
However, in front of the MC, he gradually sheds his hard shell and reveals his true thoughts. Or rather, actually how the MC just sees through his macho act.
I love how in the Love End, I could choose all the options I like. Bc it's easier for the meter to go to the Love End side, lolol. And Hijikata was so sweet in the Love End. His gentle look completely melts my heart. (●´□`)♡
I love the MC in this game as well! She makes herself helpful, in spite of the hardships thrown her way. She knows when to speak up, and when to back down. φ(*⌒▽⌒)ノ
Overall, I loved the story, and the voiced video after unlocking both ends was just awesome?? Haha.
Tbqh, the format of the video reminded me of Amnesia. Since the MC's part was voiceless, lol.
Definitely looking forward to the other characters of this game!

[Walkthrough] Era of Samurai: Code of Love; Toshizo Hijikata - Season 1 Main Story
After playing both walkthroughs, a special voiced video will be unlocked!
Referred to a Japanese walkthrough for the Fate End from Chapter 9 onwards. Tbqh, it was more of guessing, LOL. But it worked since I got the Fate End, haha.
The End Written by Fate
Chapter 1
- B. Say nothing.
- C: "He's right. I'm just a lodger."
- B: "I'd call for help."
- C: Pretend you didn't notice him.
- C: "He isn't here."
- C: Plead with someone for help.
- B: "You're sure that would be alright?"
- C: See what he does.
- B: Silently watch him go.
- B: Don't ask him.
- A: Ask for his help.
- A: Persuade him.
- C: Hesitate.
- C: "I'm not sticking up for them."
- C: Wait and see what he does.
- B: Yell at him.
- B: "It's nothing."
- A: Stay at Otento.
- B: "I think it smells nice."
- A: "Don't you trust me?"
- B: Obey orders.
- B: Burst into tears.

[Review] Amnesia™: Memories
I got it from Steam some time last year when it was just released!Btw, this review will contain spoilers, so read at your own discretion, hahaha.
Cr: Steam
About the story
Summary from Steam: You awaken to find your memories gone. To learn the truth behind your amnesia, you’ll choose from five romantic paths, each its own world. With 20+ endings, can you write the lasting love story you deserve, or will your love and life come to an end?
About the guys
Pic credit: gamerchatter.com
This is like the best picture I found to represent the guys.
From left to right:
Shin (Heart World) > Ikki (Spade World) > Toma (Diamond World) > Kent (Clover World).
And coincidentally, that's the order in which I played my routes, hahaha.
I followed a walkthrough. There's no way I'd have gotten a happy ending if I'd just chosen and clicked anyhow, LOL.
Shin: The younger guy character, who is younger than you by a year.
This is a mystery I would have definitely failed solving if not for the walkthrough, lolol. And yupp, Shin's route is basically a mystery - which the MC has to find out who exactly hurt her. And they trace back to what happened and all. Just like solving a mystery case. Shin just kisses the MC out of nowhere with every opportunity he can get. He becomes shy and actually blushes when he hold hands with the MC. (❁´▽`❁)*✲゚*
To get all his CGs, you'd just have to play through the Good End & Normal End. After following the walkthrough, I saw that the number of CGs is still incomplete, even though there are no missing ones. So I randomly clicked the images to replay the scenes by clicking other choices. I can't remember which one I clicked though. :O The last CG is obtained from doing Ukyo's Bad End 7! (Which I have yet to complete at the moment.)
Ikki: The playboy type, who actually has a fanclub with crazy fangirls.
At the moment, all I can remember of this route is that the fanclub is crazy. LOL. They are scary in the way they do all their bullying stuff to the MC. Ikki is really sweet though. Though I felt as confused as Orion in the beginning. Idk what's going on when Ikki asks to meet with the MC, but ends up talking to/being held up by his fanclub. His attitude was so hot and cold that it confused me.
But yupp, his coldness has a reason - in that he didn't want his fangirls to see how serious he was towards the MC. The only time he's sweet to the MC is when he is alone with her. And the atmosphere was really romantic. ₍₍ ( ๑॔˃̶◡ ˂̶๑॓)◞♡
To get all his CGs, you'd just have to play through the Good End & Normal End. Can't remember if there were any missing variations of the CGs after following the walkthrough for both Good & Normal Ends.
I actually held off continuing his route for months. LOL. Paused it in September last year and only just finished this a few days ago. Previously, I had already read reviews about Toma that he locked the MC up in the cage. So I kind of just dragged playing it, until I decided I should just finish it.
Tbqh, the design of Toma is pretty handsome. He is pretty normal too in the other routes. So why is he like this in his own route? LOL. He was sane I think until halfway of his route. So yupp, the MC spends half the route inside the cage. Idk how, but it triggers her memories.
Orion is the only thing that's keeping me sane in this route. And btw, this is a self-insert-thought/speech game, so my thoughts are apparently really different from the MC. Whenever Toma asks the MC some things, I'd be like no but Toma replies something else back. ಠ_ಠ
On a side note, I couldn't comprehend why the MC actually returned to the cage after being knocked down by a bike. It was bc she didn't want Toma to find out she went out. But um, why??? ಠ_ಠ
To get all his CGs, you'd have to complete his Good End & Bad End 2 ("We'll be together forever"). I had thought there would be a CG in his Normal End, but there's no CG. I feel like the Normal CG should be the Good End instead? Since Shin actually finds the MC when she escapes, and Toma really disappears from sight after that. Bad End 2 is just wow, lol.
One thing to credit Toma, though, is that he helps the MC clear her mailbox from the crazy doings of Ikki's fanclub. He cleans up whatever gross things the girls in the fanclub puts into her mailbox.
I couldn't stop fangirling and smiling when I first read his route. He looks like Midorima, my favourite character in Kuroko no Basket. Kent's voice actor has a pretty deep voice too. Their characters are similar too, in the sense that they always use logic to make sense of what they are doing. Even the way they push their glasses are the same. When the side view of Kent gets shown on the screen at times, my heart just melts since they look really similar. Both of them are scary tall too. ˉ̞̭(′͈∨‵͈♡)˄̻ ̊
This route is basically pretty light. No cages, no mysteries, no crazy fangirls to ruin your life.
But oh, you'll need to solve math questions. LOL. But anyway, all hail to the walkthrough. Only managed to solve a little of the math questions that were flashed, haha. I think reading Kent's story fourth is just nice. Bc Ukyo's route has another deep plot.
His Good End is the sweetest thing I have ever read. (●´∀`)ノ♡
As much as he reasons out his logic, his heart still wins out. My heart melted everytime he voices his confusion. Like what he said, his head is telling him this, but his heart is telling him another. And yupp, him being like who he is, is mainly because of his upbringing, lol. His parents are so logical.
Ukyo: The hidden route unlocked once you've played everyone else's.
I played the bad ends for the choices that would, after playing the save, allow me to continue to lead me to the Good End for Ukyo. So I must say the bad ends were pretty interesting?? Lol. I've never played a game that lets the MC die so many times. LOL.
Ukyo is the guy who is always there. It makes sense why his route would be last once you've read all the other guys' routes. It's like the true ending to me. And tbqh, after playing his route, it makes me wonder of the otome games I've played, if any of the characters actually retain their memory and get their hearts broken when I pursue the other guys, LOL. Because that was exactly how it felt like to me when the truth was revealed. Ah, Ukyo. (ఠ్ఠ ˓̭ ఠ్ఠ)
Okay, back to the route. Ukyo's route rounds up all the questions you have ever wondered about the game. Why did Orion appear in your life? Why is Ukyo so weird and warning you about what may happen? Or say things like 'Ah it's Kent this time round, you'd be safe here', stuff like that.
Overall, the Good End made me feel conflicted. Conflicted that yes, finally Ukyo got the ending he wanted so the cycle won't continue again; and sad of what happened to Orion and his god. Sobs.
Conclusion
This is an awesome game worth every cent! Well, except for Toma's route. LOL. Idek why his route was like this and Japan voted him as #1 in this game????
So yupp, I loved this game a lot, and even got the official fanbook when I was in Japan weeks ago. It was the only one left on the shelves. 。゚.(*♡´◡` 人´◡` ♡*)゚ °・
But the images were slightly different, and there were different worlds??? Like the guys were dressed in some prince suit. LOL. Idk. But the illustrations are surely very pretty. 。゚.(*♡´◡` 人´◡` ♡*)゚ °・

[Review] The Men of Yoshiwara: Ohgiya
Been relatively inactive in playing Voltage games recently.Just finished playing The Men of Yoshiwara: Ohgiya! Bought it from steam here.
This game is of slightly mature content. For age 18+? So I think if you're below the age limit, you might not be able to view the game?? I think.
The premise of the game is set in the olden times, where no men are born in the island, so the women have to go to the pleasure quarters (where the few men are at) to have a heir. It's basically a gender reverse of the stories that people usually read from the era of courtesans, oirans etc.
Screenshots taken from Steam:
Slight spoilers ahead!!
After reading the prologue, I immediately felt like the OTP is Ageha, so I started off with him.
My order of play was Ageha > Asagiri > Takigawara > Gakuto > Utsusemi.
Ageha is just so cute??? After reading everyone's route, I still think the MC belongs with him, haha. Ultimate OTP in this game. I feel like their love is so pure, even in the sequel, which shows their one year later.
Played Asagiri's next, and I liked him better than I thought. I actually ranked him last so I played him second (so I won't feel like I'm dragging myself to finish the game).
Takigawara was a really interesting route too. Didn't like him that much in the beginning, but he grew on me.
The MC was really fierce to Gakuto in the first chapter. I was like, wow. But their interactions were really interesting. I loved how Gakuto's prickly shell came off to show his sweet side as time went by.
Utsusemi's route was lighthearted in the beginning, and I had the same thoughts as the MC about him. We see a little of Ageha, with his coming of age ceremony. ಥ_ಥ My heart strings.
In summary, I loved everyone's storyline. Aside from the slight errors/not-so-fluent english in some parts, the game was still really enjoyable! Every route is different. Graphics were really pretty, though Ageha looked like a girl in some of his CGs, LOL.
Loved this game. Tempted to get Men of Yoshiwara: Kikuya (the prequel to this game though with different characters and MC), but that shall wait. Have yet to finish Amnesia that I bought from Steam last year, lolol.
Btw, after playing the main story, the sequel/date scenarios will be unlocked. I think it's super worth it at this price! And one thing to make the game better is to add Musashi's route too? Haha.
[Review] Magical Otoge Ciel
So, I actually do play other otome games other than voltage, haha.Note: Picture credits to batensen + her tumblr blog.
This is a free/pay-what-you-want game by Batensan, for Windows, Mac OS and Linus.
“Ciel, the protagonist, is a princess who has never been allowed to leave her kingdom. Along with her loyal knight and bodyguard, she decides to follow her dreams of seeing the world.”
You can find more details on the official lemmasoft thread here.
About the guys
There are 3 pursuable guys in the story - Florien, Anton and Yvin.
Florien
Anton
Yvin
I played them in order of Florien > Anton > Yvin.
Florien is just so adorable, omg. Initially I wanted to go after Anton since I liked how his character looked like. As I read the story, I became drawn to Florien. There's just something about a guy who has always been there for you that tugs at my heartstrings. Yvin's route is unlocked after playing Florien/Anton.
I saved the Author's Notes for last. When I read it, I was like (╥_╥). The author doesn't seem to like Florien much, LOL. It's okay, Florien. You have my heart, hahaha.
Brief summary of the guys
Florien: Your knight since forever. Since Florien is 20, and there's a 2 year age gap, this means you have known each other for (at least) 13 years!! Okay, this got a little spoiler-ish. He is super adorable though. I loved looking at his blushing face.
Anton: The dark and broody guy. Florien's brother and captain of the Royal Knights. But eh, his character was too distant for me. :( I prefer my guys to be more expressive. His backstory is good though.
Yvin: Random stalker who is follows you throughout the journey, and helps you out in the dark. His character lightens up the entire story! Haha. He makes everything seem comical, lol. Don't let his facade fool you, he has indeed more depth than what he shows.
About the story
If anyone is afraid about reading cliche stories, I can tell you this is not (that cliche, at least IMO)! Some parts of the story are cute, some parts are pretty sad. The fluff still very much outweighs the angst.
The MC is not a girl who needs help in every single scenario, nor is she the type who thinks she's so strong and keep jumping into trouble (zzz, I hate those type of MCs =_=).
The progress of the story is natural. I would have loved to see more after the end though.
About the art
The art in the story, ie CGs/sprites are drawn by Batensen. It's rather polished IMO!
Conclusion
So yupp, if anyone is wondering (if it's not any obvious), my order of preference is Florien > Yvin > Anton.
That's about it! I truly enjoyed this story! Kind of wondered how to write this without spoilers, but I guess this is not so bad? I hope maybe someone will find this review in the sea of the internet and go play this game. Haha.
Do vote for Florien too in Batensen's tumblr poll!!!!
